Robbyant, a company belonging to the Ant Group, is presenting its humanoid robot R1 for the first time at IFA 2025 in Berlin. The robot is based on embodied AI and has been developed for use in the catering industry, particularly in commercial kitchens and catering businesses. R1 can take over cooking processes, automate monotonous tasks and support kitchen staff.
The robot's AI model enables independent planning of processes, continuous learning of new recipes and flexible adaptation to different kitchen appliances. Thanks to a spatial perception system, the robot recognises the position of work materials and can perform tasks accordingly. Robbyant offers the option of customising the robot to different kitchen layouts and workflows.
The company's strategy envisages expanding the range of applications for humanoid robots, including care, household and medical support. The aim is to develop intelligent companions that can take on various everyday tasks and provide support in underserved or labour-intensive areas. This could lead to the creation of intelligent companions that truly make everyday life easier and cushion the increasing shortage of skilled workers.
Robbyant is working with partners from the DACH region and Europe to achieve this. Ant Group is contributing technological expertise and a network for AI and digitalisation projects.
The company has not yet announced a price or specific availability date, but will be presenting the robot live to the trade fair audience at IFA from 5th to 9th September 2025.
