Edinburgh-based pizza oven manufacturer Ooni has decided its Volt 12 pizza oven is in need of a refresh. The upgrade, appropriately christened Volt 2, boasts of a much larger viewing area and a "30% smaller" form factor that should allow for the pizza oven to fit snuggly in a kitchen cupboard.
Ooni's Volt ovens are indoor appliances capable of heating to temperatures as high as 850°F (450°C) or as low as 70°F (21°C). Like its predecessor, Volt 2 reaches max heat in 20 minutes when supercharged by "Boost" mode. Ooni claims this feature can bake an authentic Neapolitan-style pizza in as little as 90 seconds from the comfort of your home kitchen, although Italian pizzaiolos may beg to differ.
The main feature upgrade of Volt 2 is Ooni's new temperature control system. Pizza Intelligence, as the oven maker calls it, is an adaptive mechanism that uses data from its sensors to adjust the heating elements in real-time. Pizza lovers need not fret though; Ooni does not have any AI models dipping hallucinatory tokens into your crust.
Pizza Intelligence (PI, anyone?) also powers the three presets that come with Volt 2. Besides Neapolitan, amateur pizza chefs can whip up thin, crispy pizzas and even attempt Pizza Hut-style pan pizza at the touch of a button. Two custom presets are also available for the more discerning pizza connoisseur.
Ooni has priced the Volt 2 at $699, although it's not available till October 1st, 2025.
