Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8T owners are not going to be too happy with the latest news about Android 10-based MIUI 12 for their devices. Delays are already expected anyway and now the general manager of Xiaomi Indonesia has claimed that the company is “still testing” the firmware for the Redmi Note 8/8T.

The extended delay for Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8T users continues without an end in sight when it comes to receiving the Android 10-based MIUI 12 software update. Many were expecting to have received the new build in August, but the Redmi Note 8/8T update has suffered from several setbacks in the meantime.

Not only was the update for the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8T delayed at the end of August because of stability issues, but it appears there is yet another delay in the works, thanks to the recent announcement of the suspension of MIUI 12 beta testing because of national holidays in China. While some Redmi Note 8/8T owners may have been excited to learn that Xiaomi had seemingly started rolling out updates for third-batch devices, there is still a lengthy wait ahead.

Unsurprisingly, dissatisfied users of the very popular Redmi devices have started reaching out to Xiaomi executives, with one owner asking Xiaomi Indonesia’s GM, Alvin Tse, when Android 10/MIUI 12 was going to arrive for the Redmi Note 8. The simple response to the query was “still testing”, which would definitely be seen as disappointing news for owners, who will be lucky to receive any kind of update before the end of October. Users can at least test out a custom ROM for Android 10 or even Android 11 if they don’t want to keep waiting for the official Android 10/MIUI 12 update.
