Weeks ago, Realme indicated that it would not send out the Android 12 update to its four-month-old tablet, the Realme Pad. It appears that the bad press from that choice has helped change Realme's stance on the matter, although the company's update policy on the Realme Pad remains unsatisfactory.

A while ago, word surfaced indicating that Realme would not be sending out the Android 12 update to the Realme Pad. It appears, however, that the media backlash from that decision has had an effect, with Realme now choosing to backtrack on its earlier stance.

As reported by Android Authority, Realme has now stated that the Realme Pad will, in fact, receive Android 12. The tablet was only launched in September, so making it ineligible for Android 12 in the first place was a shambolic decision by Realme. While the company doing a U-turn on that decision is positive, it's not particularly praiseworthy either.

For one, the Realme Pad is scheduled to get the Android 12 update in Q3. That means it could get Android 12 after Android 13 has been released. It also appears that Android 12 is the only major OS update the tablet will receive in its lifetime. At least, though, Realme is promising three years of security updates for the budget tablet.
