Strictly speaking, rumours about the RTX 5080 Super have been around since the GPU launched at CES this year. 16 GB of GDDR7 VRAM seemed low for a RTX 5080 class GPU and many hoped it would come with 24 GB instead. Now, legendary leaker Kopite7Kimi has confirmed the RTX 5080 Super is indeed real and shed some light on its specs.
The RTX 5080 Super (PG147-SKU35) uses a Blackwell-based GB203-450-A1 GPU from Nvidia, slightly different from the GB203-400-A1 used on the regular RTX 5080. Interestingly, it has the same number of CUDA cores (10,752) as its non-Super counterpart. Its max TDP, on the other hand, has increased to 400+ Watts; expected from a mid-cycle refresh. But, overclocked variants can easily exceed this value.
Now for the most important part, the RTX 5080 Super will come with 24 GB of GDDR7 VRAM, indicating Nvidia has finally got its hands on 3 GB GDDR7 modules. This also means other Super-branded cards could launch shortly after. An earlier leak hinted the RTX 5070 Super was also in the works with 18 GB of VRAM. Either way, if such a SKU exists, it won't be long before we learn about it via Kopite7Kimi or other sources because they were tipped to arrive later in 2025, towards the year-end.
