The ROG XG Station 3 has made its official debut at Computex 2025. Compared to the predecessor, this new external graphics card dock brings a Thunderbolt 5 port, which offers a transfer speed of 80 Gbps. Looking back, the predecessor model featured a Thunderbolt 3 port, and its transfer rate maxed out at 40 Gbps. (Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4, USB 4 and Thunderbolt 5 are all perfectly compatible with each other; it's mostly their bandwidth that makes them different.)
So, on paper, the new ROG XG Station 3 should offer better performance than eGPU docks with OCuLink (Minisforum DEG1 curr. $99 on Amazon), which has a rated transfer rate of 64 Gbps. Asus also highlights that the new external graphics card dock has three extra USB ports. All of them are 10 Gbps Type-C ports, and they are there for additional connectivity.
As for GPU compatibility, the new Asus eGPU dock is fully compatible with AMD Radeon RX 9000 series and Nvidia RTX 50 series GPUs. The company notes that there's support for the BTF graphics cards as well, which will lead to a clean and "cableless" setup.
Like the predecessor, the ROG XG Station 3 has a built-in power supply, but Asus didn't offer much detail about it. Looking back, the last-gen eGPU dock features a 600 W PSU with an 80 Plus Gold rating. Among the other highlights of this new graphics card dock is Asus Aura Sync, making it easier for users to synchronize the built-in RGB lights with compatible products. Asus has yet to reveal the pricing and availability details of the ROG XG Station 3.
