Pokémon: Let's Go sells 3 million copies in its first week, becomes fastest selling Switch game ever
Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! have seen a mixed reception from the Pokémon community, but there’s no denying that the titles have been wildly successful. In addition to garnering critical praise, the titles (collectively called Pokémon: Let’s Go) have sold 3 million copies in their first week of release and become the fastest selling games on the Nintendo Switch.
The Pokémon Company celebrated the news on Twitter, and with good reason. Despite launching a week ago on November 16th, the titles have sold more quickly than Switch mainstays like Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
As far as Pokémon games go, Pokémon: Let’s Go is off to a good start. The original Pokémon Red and Blue collectively sold about 31 million copies over its lifetime, not counting the multiple remakes or other releases. Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, the most recent traditional Pokémon games, have sold almost 8 million units since their 2017 release.
Of course, there’s little chance that Pokémon: Let’s Go will catch up to the mobile spinoff that revitalized the series. Pokémon Go (for iOS and Android) has been downloaded over 800 million times and has generated an estimated US $2 billion in revenue for The Pokémon Company.
Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! are both available for the Nintendo Switch.
