The next wave of Android flagship killers is thought to have a new processor practically custom-made for it purpose. Some recent leaks give the impression that the "Snapdragon 8 Plus" (or Qualcomm "SM8845") will to occupy a new tier between a hypothetical 8s Gen 4 (SM8735) successor and the upcoming 8 Elite 2 ("SM8850"). Now, a new tip might shed some light on why that is.
The typically accurate source Digital Chat Station indicates that the "8 Plus" will indeed blend the 8 Elite's performance with some of those of the 8 Elite 2, which might include non-compute components such as its GPU (the "Adreno 840"), NPU and ISP, based on TSMC'S N3p process.
That might indeed make alternatives to rumored devices like the Xiaomi 16 Ultra, Oppo Find X9 Ultra and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra very attractive.
That might be why the 8 Plus is said to power successors to smartphones such as the OnePlus Ace 5 Pro, Vivo S30 and Honor GT Pro. They are rumored to combine the spec with potentially cutting-edge batteries of up to 8,000mAh in capacity.
