The Note X5 Mini is a new E Ink tablet with a compact 7.8-inch display. Offered with active stylus support, Onyx Boox's latest E Ink tablet also features an octa-core Qualcomm chipset and 4 GB of LPDDR4X RAM, among other hardware.

Onyx has updated its Boox Note series with the X5 Mini, which centres around a comparatively small E Ink display. For context, the company has focused on introducing large form factor E Ink devices globally this year, whether that be the Mira Pro Color monitor or the 13.3-inch Tab X C (curr. $819.99 on Amazon).

Arguably, the Boox Palma 2 remains one of Onyx's most popular E Ink tablets, which could soon come with an LTE modem and a colour display. In the meantime, the company has started selling the Note X5 Mini with a 7.8-inch Carta 1300 E Ink panel that delivers a 300 PPI pixel density thanks to a 1,872 x 1,404-pixel resolution.

Moreover, the E Ink tablet features 64 GB of built-in storage, a Bluetooth 5.0 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi compatible modem, and support for active styluses with 4,096 pressure levels.

Also, the Note X5 Mini boasts LLM integration with services like DeepSeek for the purposes of summarising texts and for voice-to-text transcriptions. The Note X5 Mini is available in China for CNY 2,399 (~$336). While Onyx typically offers its E Ink tablets globally, it has not indicated as much yet with the Note X5 Mini.
