Nintendo Direct: a new event is reportedly planned for this summer with big announcements

Recently, a Nintendo Donkey Kong Bananza Direct conference was held, revealing the next big game to be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 on July 17, 2025, which will be in 3D with a fully destructible environment. But recently, a major event was reportedly leaked, highlighting announcements that could appeal to fans of the Japanese company. 

Leaker Nate The Hate has already spoken on the subject, pointing out that there is often a Nintendo Direct during the summer, and YouTuber Wood Hawker has fueled this rumor by mentioning that such an event will certainly take place in the coming months with big announcements. 

He made this statement on his Nontendo podcast. At 1 hour and 18 minutes into the video, he adds: “There's going to be a Nintendo Direct next month". And that's not all, because while keeping his sources secret, he specifies: "We are going to get GameCube shadow-drops. I heard Pokémon Colosseum is going to be one. Not Gale XD, that's coming later. They are doing one at a time".

As a result, it appears that Pokémon Colosseum will be included, while Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness will be released at the end of the year.. If we continue with this video and take his comments into account, Metaphor ReFantazio, Death Stranding Director's Cut, and The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt will be available on Nintendo Switch 2 and will make their appearance during the supposed Nintendo Direct this summer.

Although this news may be beneficial for fans, it's not over yet. Wood Hawker specifies that a release date will be announced for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Finally, for players who loved Animal Crossing, a teaser revealing a new game could arrive as early as 2026: "I don't know if it's coming before Donkey Kong or after Donkey Kong, but it's to refresh everybody with what's coming out for the rest of the year. Included in that is Metroid's release date, and then, as far as I'm aware, the one more thing is just supposed to be a teaser card. I heard Isabelle is going to show up and it's going to tease Animal Crossing coming out in 2026".

However, we will have to wait for official announcements from Nintendo to find out whether these rumors are true or unfounded.
