New information all but extinguishes hopes for a Days Gone 2 release
Two years after its PS4 debut, Days Gone was finally released for PC, with its reception leaning strongly towards positive. While fans of the game have kept hope for a potential sequel, the future looks increasingly bleak, with a new development essentially killing all hope for the release of Days Gone 2.
In a recent interview shared on PlayStation Blog, Herman Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, confirmed that Bend Studio is working on a new IP. Bend Studio is, of course, the studio behind Days Gone. Bend is said to be "building on the deep open-world systems that they developed for Days Gone". Ergo, the game in development is almost definitely an open-world title, but not Days Gone 2.
Supposedly, Bend Studio's Days Gone 2 pitch was shot down back in 2019. The fact that the studio is already working on another title ensures that we won't be getting Days Gone 2—or, at least, any time soon. That's a shame, and at least 118,000 Days Gone fans are going to be disappointed.
