Last week, AMD officially took the wraps off the RX 9060 non-XT. The card, which seems to be for system integrators solely, is a cut-down version of the RX 9060 XT 8 GB. The RX 9060 is, therefore, less powerful than the RX 9060 XT. Thanks to performance testing done by a South Korean outlet, we now know exactly how much of a performance deficit the RX 9060 suffers from compared to the RX 9060 XT.
Technosaurus tested the RX 9060 against the RTX 5050, the RTX 5060, and the RX 9060 XT 8 GB. The GPUs were paired with both a budget Ryzen 5 7500F and the current fastest gaming CPU, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. The results are in favor of the RX 9060.
In titles like God of War 2018, Cyberpunk 2077, and Warhammer 4000: Space Marine 2, the RX 9060 appears to perform practically identically to the RTX 5060, as the latter is only 2% faster than the RX 9060. The RX 9060 XT, on the other hand, is around 6% faster than the RX 9060 non-XT. These performance figures are at 1080p, using the highest quality settings.
The RX 9060 appears mighty impressive when compared with the $249 RTX 5050. The RX 9060 is reportedly around 20% faster than the RTX 5050. The RTX 5050 has been reviewed pretty badly. Although the card offers sufficient 1080p gaming performance, it is a disappointing release from Nvidia in 2025. The RX 9060, while by no means a fast card, seemingly embarrasses the RTX 5050 further. The RTX 5050’s only saving grace is that it is widely available, while the RX 9060 is expected to be a limited launch for only pre-built gaming PCs.
Finally, Technosaurus also ran 3DMark Time Spy and Fire Strike benchmarks on the RX 9060. The RX 9060 scores 14,132 points in the Time Spy and 35,511 in the Fire Strike test. This reportedly makes the RX 9060 38% and 25% faster than the RTX 5050 in Time Spy and Fire Strike benchmarks, respectively. The card, however, loses to the RTX 5060, as the GeForce GPU appears to be around 4% and 3% ahead of the RX 9060 in Time Spy and Fire Strike, respectively.
All in all, if pre-built gaming PCs featuring the RX 9060 are affordable enough or if AMD decides to sell the card at the same or better price than the RTX 5050, the RX 9060 could be a good GPU for some people. However, buying an 8 GB VRAM GPU in 2025 is not recommended. So, if you have the cash, 16 GB cards like the RX 9060 XT should still be your bare minimum choice for 1080p gaming.
