Deal | One of the biggest games from 2025 is now discounted to its lowest-ever price

Peak is easily one of this year’s biggest indie success stories, and the game has now just received its first-ever discount on Steam (not counting the launch discount). It’s a generous one too, since the game is now 38% off, bringing the price down to $4.95 in the US as part of the Midweek Deal, which runs until August 18.

Released on June 16, Peak has exploded in popularity over the past two months. Developed by Team Peak and published by Aggro Crab and Landfall, the co-op climbing adventure has already racked up more than 75,000 user reviews, with over 31,000 of those coming in just the past 30 days. Its "Very Positive" rating is a strong indicator that it’s not just a viral hit, but it's also holding players’ attention well after release. Plus, the new August 11 update (which introduces a new biome and other features) is bringing a lot of older players back to the game too.

In case you were unfamiliar with the game, the concept is pretty straightforward but rather punishing: stranded on a mysterious island, you and up to three other players must scale the mountain at its center to escape. The climbing physics require some level of precision, and a single mistake can send you tumbling back down - sometimes all the way to the bottom. It’s this mix of tension, skill, and slapstick failure that has made it a favorite among streamers and casual players.

The game also supports solo play, but it’s in multiplayer that it really shines, thanks to proximity voice chat and desperate last-second saves. That unpredictability seems to be a big part of why Peak’s concurrent player count is still strong, with tens of thousands online at any given time.

At launch, Peak had the same price tag - $4.95 - before it reverted to the default $7.99 MSRP. Another fun fact: the game peaked at 135,536 concurrent players on 12 August 2025, which is 56 days after release. That's saying something. You can check the game out here.
