Beyond the Map is entering Steam early access today, August 25, 2025. For those unfamiliar, it is a survival action RPG with a procedurally generated world, base building, and classless character progression from indie studio Glitch Goblins. The developers are planning a community-driven early access phase which will last roughly one to two years. There's also a roadmap that adds biomes, enemies, co-op features, customization, and new narrative elements over time.
On its Steam page, Beyond the Map provides a setting where players have to build bases, craft gear, and fight to improve their loadouts and push into tougher regions - all this is presented in an isometric perspective. The premise starts with a shipwreck at the edge of the charted seas, dropping players into lands filled with hostile biomes and resources to discover.
The early access build includes a functional combat system, procedurally generated biomes, and a selection of enemies, with active work continuing on balance, performance, and content expansion according to the developer’s EA note on Steam. The game supports single-player with Steam Cloud and Family Sharing shown on the page (Steam Deck compatibility is currently "unknown") and lists 13 languages for interface/subtitles at launch.
Minimum specs call for a 64-bit Windows 10/11 PC with a 4-core CPU, 16 GB RAM, and a GeForce GTX 1650, with 10 GB storage and DirectX 11; recommended specs include an 8-core CPU and RTX 3060 with the same RAM and storage targets, which are relatively high memory expectations for a survival ARPG.
Beyond the Map has garnered 3,144+ followers on Steam and maintains an active development blog with regular patch updates, most recently version 0.1.12 in August 2025. If you're into Diablo-style ARPG combat mixed in with survival crafting mechanics, this game might be worth a second look.
