The Minix NGC-NR660 is a brand-new mini PC that is now available on Amazon. Specifically, the computer can be ordered from Amazon for $399, but Minix is currently granting an additional $30 discount with a coupon, which has to be activated manually.
The NGC-NR660 should be a suitable everyday machine for tasks that aren't too demanding, such as browsing or office applications. The mini PC is powered by the AMD Ryzen 5 6600H APU, which isn't exactly cutting-edge anymore. That said, the chip has 6 cores, 12 threads and clock speeds of up to 4.5 GHz. The compact computer is supposed to have quiet fans with a noise level of 32 dB according to the manufacturer, which should be quieter than typing on most regular keyboards.
The mini PC further comes with 16GB DDR5 RAM running at 4800 MHz. The memory can be upgraded to 64GB later on thanks to two available SODIMM slots. The Minix NGC-NR660 is also equipped with a 512GB SSD and an additional M.2 slot. Unlike some other devices in this category, the system is not compatible with traditional 2.5-inch drives.
The Minix mini PC is compatible with 4K monitors at 60 Hz, external 8K displays are supported as well. In terms of ports, HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.2, and USB 4 are available. The USB 4 port can output a video signal, but also connect to external storage devices.
USB Power Delivery with up to 100 watts can make a separate power cable obsolete, and there is a total of three USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports as well as outdated USB 2.0 ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Last but not least, the mini PC features two 2.5GBe ports.
