Major Dell XPS shakeup planned with no new XPS 15 or XPS 17 models
Windows Report has returned to provide more details about another upcoming laptop refresh. Previously, the website has disclosed various specifications for the Galaxy Book4 series, including the flagship Galaxy Book4 Ultra. Now, it has published information about Dell's plans for the XPS series, which Windows Report claims will debut during CES 2024 in January.
Reportedly, Dell has created up to four new models, all with Intel Meteor Lake processors. According to Windows Report, even the smaller XPS 13 will ship with NVIDIA RTX graphics despite Dell's recent focus on making it lightweight and portable. Moreover, Dell will also offer a new XPS 13 Plus, which will retain its invisible trackpad and touch-capacitive function keys.
Surprisingly, Windows Report alleges that Dell has discontinued the XPS 15 and XPS 17, with the latter lasting three generations after its return in 2020. In their places will arrive the XPS 14 and XPS 16, each with Meteor Lake processors and NVIDIA RTX 40 series GPUs like their smaller counterparts. Although various details remain unknown for now, it appears that Dell will directly target the MacBook Pro 14 and MacBook Pro 16 with its next XPS series, as well as providing viable MacBook Air 13 alternatives too.
