A few months have now passed since the first foldable keyboard PC came to market after debuting last summer. Now, the company behind the Ryzen 7 8840U-powered device have returned with what appears to be an even more powerful option. This time, however, it seems that Linglong has decided to exploit AMD's latest Strix Halo series.
Specifically, the company has been prototyping a device called 'Star Core' with the Ryzen AI Max+ 395. Also found in devices like the latest Asus ROG Flow Z13 and the GMKtec EVO-X2 (curr. $1,799 on Amazon), the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 has 16 CPU cores based on AMD's Zen 5 architecture at its disposal with 5.1 GHz boost clock speeds and support for LPDDR5x-8000 RAM. On top of that, the APU contains an iGPU powerful enough to challenge discrete laptop options like the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070.
It remains to be seen what device Linglong is planning for the time being. From the information that has emerged so far, 'Star Core' has 96 GB of RAM and looks to be way too large to be another foldable keyboard PC. The lack of an ATX power connector suggests that Star Core is a mini-PC or an all-in-one (AIO) of some sort, though.
