A niche tablet. In a more and more saturated market, tablets with telephone capability always count as niche products. The Chinese manufacturer Huawei wants to change that. With the MediaPad 7 Vogue, it throws into the mix a 7-inch candidate that not only surfs and plays films, but also serves as a fully capable phone replacement.

Nexus rival. The Huawei MediaPad X1 7.0 is designed to vie with the Google Nexus 7, and with its in-house processor and high-resolution LTPS display, it seems to be an interesting competitor in the 7-inch segment. The LTE tablet leaves a good impression in many respects; however, it shows some flaws in terms of software.

The Huawei MediaPad X1 is a bit of an oddball. It's a 7-inch phone, and it only makes sense if you consider it as such given that rival 7-inch tablets are available for less than half the price. It seems like Samsung may already have some of the MediaPad X1's potential sewn up with the Note series of phones, but it is a promising device regardless.

Source: Phone Arena English
It’s not a total wash, thankfully, as the MediaPad X2 can be picked up through various channels on Amazon for the starting price of $413 – down from the $700 price point it’s normally attached with. Thinking more about that $413 price, it surely offers some value by being high spec’d, long lasting with its battery, and producing some slick shots with its camera. Oh yeah, it’s also a dual-SIM device with expandable storage and a premium design that makes the $413 cost a steal.

Huawei MediaPad M2

The Huawei MediaPad M2 is an 8” tablet with a weight of 0.33 kg, which carries the promise of a reasonable media consumption device. Inspired by classical music, this tablet brings about the theme through providing the best-in-class audio with its dual speakers, large chambers, SWS 2.0 (Super Wide Sound) and Clari-Fi music restoration technology by Harman Kardon. This technology comes with a PA power amplifier, which allows the creation of clear audio even when amplified. This gives an enhanced experience for users especially when watching movies or listening to music at high volumes. The theme of classical music can also be seen in the model's sleek all-metal design, with lines running through the edges and sides of the tablet imitating the look of a music sheet. Besides, this model also sports a 1920 x 1200 Full HD IPS display which is tested to be 67 % sharper than average tablets. Coupled with its Color Plus, Sun View and Eye Care features, the MediaPad M2 is sure to be a vivid visual delight for users regardless of location and brightness level. This model is powered with Huawei's own Kirin 930 octa core processor clocked at 2 GHz, which is above average and translates to better multi-tasking capabilities and lower power consumption. It is also packaged with Android 5.1 Lollipop, 16 GB internal storage, and a 4800 mAh battery that can last up to 30 hours. The storage capacity can be expanded by up to 128 with a microSD card. With such competences, it is no wonder that the MediaPad M2 is a part of Huawei's flagship series.

Metal head. Unlike its precursor, Huawei's MediaPad M2 8.0 is now covered in a metal casing. Once again, the tablet scores with a potent HiSilicon Kirin Octa-core processor, decent HD IPS touchscreen, and great battery life. The latest Android 5.1 operating system and fast Wi-Fi round off the couch surfer - a good deal for around 280 Euros (~$306).

Huawei MediaPad M2 10 inch

The MediaPad M2 10 inch is a solid and elegant tablet for demanding usage. Huawei has impressed with this ultra-thin and premium build quality. At just 7.35 mm thick, the metallic unibody of the MediaPad M2 10 inch feels good in the hand. There are two colors to choose from; luxurious gold and moonlight silver. Its 10.1 inch IPS display features FHD resolution (1920 x 1200 pixels) with superb color saturation and brightness. Coupled with a 4-speaker setup that separates treble and bass, the MediaPad M2 10 inch makes for a perfect portable multimedia device. The premium edition includes a stylus with high accuracy and 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity. The MediaPad M2 10 comes with a 13 MP autofocus f/2.0 rear camera and a 5 MP front shooter. The Android 5.1 device sports a Hisilicon Kirin 930 octa core processor, either 2 GB or 3 GB of RAM depending on the variant, and up to 64 GB of storage space. In addition, it features a fingerprint sensor, dual-band Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. A 6660 mAh battery supplies the tablet with energy.

Multimedia Metal. With the MediaPad M2 10, Huawei has managed to launch a multimedia tablet on the market that has an edge on other devices in this price range, such as high-resolution cameras. We will prove that that is not the tablet's only virtue in this test.

If you like the thought of the iPad Pro 9.7's stellar sound, metal build, and Apple Pencil compatibility, but don't fancy the price, the Huawei MediaPad M2 10.0 is on a very short list of alternatives. It sounds great, feels pretty good, and its M-Pen stylus has a fair amount going for it. All of this for a surprisingly low price. But the very best tablets have at their core a slick UI, sharp display, and flawless performance - and the Huawei MediaPad M2 10.0 isn't quite up to scratch in these vital areas.

Whilst the camera wasn’t as good as the Leica unit on the Huawei P9, the addition of that stylus was something I actually really liked in this Premium model. If you choose the 16GB standard model you do have to realise that there’s no expandable storage and that’s pretty important if you’re a media consumer – something this device is really built for. Out of the two, the Premium model would be my choice. The sound quality and the included stand made it into a portable entertainment centre which was really enjoyable to use and a great TV-replacement for your bedroom or elsewhere.

The Huawei MediaPad M2 10.0 isn't a bad Android tablet, but its internal hardware doesn't live up to the slender design on the exterior. If you want them all, then the well-made case, stylus and additional storage capacity, is £80 well spent on the deluxe model. Although it's a pity you can't get the storage without the extras, if you don't want them.

I’m slightly torn as to how to judge the Huawei MediaPad M2 10. On one hand, I think it’s a genuinely beautiful device, with a case that enhances the look, rather than being thrown in as an ugly afterthought. I even find the stylus a handy tool for note-taking and text recognition. When I bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 back in 2012, this is the kind of thing I had in mind. Samsung didn’t quite live up to the promise for me back then, but this, four years on, most definitely does.

Tablets need to do a lot to set them apart from the crowd, and Huawei seems to have achieved this with the MediaPad M2. It won’t be for everyone, but the super-impressive speakers and combination of the stylus and pressure-sensitive display are great features. It also doesn’t come in too hard on the wallet. The top-end model comes with the stylus, LTE, 3GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage will cost $469, while $349 gets you 2GB of RAM and 16GB storage.

Hands-on of Mate 8, Mediapad M2 10.0, and more
Source: GSM Arena English
At its CES 2016 press conference, Huawei went on to showcase three devices - a phone, a tablet, and a smartwatch. The Mate 8 phone sees its international launch, the Mediapad M2 10 is a new device entirely, while the Huawei Watch Elegant and Jewel are two new editions of the Huawei Watch this time with the ladies in mind specifically. Huawei spoke at length how much its brand awareness has gone up around the world and that it has become the #3 smartphone maker worldwide. With ambitions to jump over Apple and take #2, of course. Flagships like the Huawei Mate 8 and the Nexus 6P will help raise awareness and push sales even further.

80% Huawei MediaPad M3 review

There's not much else out there at the top-end, with Samsung's Galaxy Tabs hoovering up most of the people that refuse to jump ship to iOS and the iPad, but this could have what it takes to carve out its own little niche. Brilliant build quality makes it perfect for carrying around everywhere. That great screen and fantastic sound help it eat up just about any video or music you can through at it, too. Gaming performance is a little iffy, and that camera isn't much to write home about though.

The MediaPad M3 should wow users with its fast speed, high-res display and powerful speakers. The device costs more than most Android tablets, but you get what you pay for. Overall, the MediaPad M3 is an attractive option for Android users looking for a high-performing tablet with a beautiful design.

80% Huawei nails the design of its flagship tablet, but is it enough to tempt people away from its rivals?
Source: PC Advisor English
In a stagnated market, the Huawei MediaPad M3 initially feels a little underwhelming. After extended use though, we reckon it’s a cut above the mid-range, but then again, from €349, you are paying for it. It’s a good alternative to an iPad if you want an Android tablet that’s bigger than an iPad mini but smaller than an iPad Air 2. But, who is specifically looking for that? The MediaPad is excellent and we recommend it, but it lacks a certain ‘wow’ factor that's largely down to the high number of existing Android tablets. The MediaPad 3 is a cut above, but you should also consider Samsung’s Galaxy Tab series for a similarly excellent Android tablet experience.

Huawei Mediapad M3

Huawei hasn't announced a U.S. price or release date for the Mediapad M3, and price is going to matter a lot here. With its sharp screen and light, single-handed form factor, the M3 looks like an excellent tablet for reading comics and watching video. But this is a highly competitive market. Looking at tablets with similar high-res screens, the Asus ZenPad Z8 runs for $249 from Verizon, and the iPad mini 4 starts at $299. The M3 has a better aspect ratio than the Z8 does for reading and the iPad mini offers more apps. It's going to have to fit into that price range to be competitive. Check back soon for price and release details, as well as a full review of the final hardware.

80% A genuine iPad mini challenger, with a price to match
Source: Alphr English
However, when I first wrote this review, we had no pricing information. Now we have it, it does take a little sheen off the tablet as it's in direct competition with the iPad Mini 4 which is a tough old battle to win. We've only been sent pricing in Euros, but even with an optimistic conversion it's a premium price to match the product. For the 32GB WiFi model, it'll set you back €349. Assuming they go by the standard conversion trick of calling it £299, that's only slightly undercutting the iPad Mini 4. It only gets pricier from there. The LTE 32GB model comes in at €399, as does the 64GB WiFi version. The 64GB LTE version hits €449.

There's a lot to like about the Huawei MediaPad M3. It is as much as you might want from a tablet designed to entertain you, a great portal for your browsing, your movies and your gaming. It offers the performance that will satisfy many and avoids the temptation to encourage you to use it for work. It's well built and a pleasure to use.

70% Huawei MediaPad M3 8.0 review
Source: Techradar English
The Huawei MediaPad M3 is a tablet with lots of admirable qualities. High screen resolution, ultra-low weight and speakers that go loud enough to become an anti-social menace in some situations earn a big thumbs-up. It's a pity, then, that the M3 is thrown off balance quite so dramatically by oddly poor gaming performance with high-end titles. The casual games everyone gets obsessed with for weeks at a time run fine, but those with console-like graphics tend to struggle to an extent that's quite rare for a tablet of this quality.

I do like the Huawei MediaPad M3, but it’s far from an essential purchase. It doesn’t do anything that a cheaper Android slate doesn’t; it just does those things with an added hit of style. The screen is decent, if overly reflective, and the metal-clad chassis is thin and light yet maintains a solid feel. The speakers, too, are superb for a small tablet.

80% The new 8in tablet king?
Source: Expert Reviews English
The 8.4in screen is the big highlight, and if you excuse the slight dip in gaming prowess, the Kirin 950’s sheer processing oomph knocks its rivals for six. Battery life also takes a bit of a hit as a result, but if you want a powerful, compact, premium-feeling Android tablet, then the MediaPad M3 is going to take some beating.

84% Huawei Mediapad M3 Review

The Huawei MediaPad M3 offers an immersive display, great audio and long-lasting battery life and while gaming can be somewhat choppy, it is capable of playing high-end 3D games with few issues. You can also make phone calls with it and performance is a breeze but a generic design, average cameras and a questionable interface mean this won't be a tablet for everyone. If you can get past those shortcomings, it could be one of the best Android tablets currently available.

Our first impressions of the Huawei MediaPad M3 are mostly very good. The hardware is excellent and a match for anything else on the market (Apple included), and while performance seems good, Huawei's software is as always its weakest point.
