Huawei recently published a teaser image (embedded below) on Chinese social network Weibo, along with the note that on Monday, May 19, the company will not only unveil the Huawei Nova 14 series, but also a new laptop based on HarmonyOS 5. Huawei clearly intends to use this device to showcase the capabilities of its new desktop operating system, which, at least in China, will soon compete with Windows and macOS.
The teaser image suggests a laptop with a foldable display, similar to the one found on the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold. On the other hand, Huawei's model appears significantly thinner and the leather-textured back gives the notebook an elegant feel. It is unclear whether Huawei will include a keyboard, and if so, whether it can be conveniently stored inside the closed notebook or whether it has to be transported separately. Details on the screen size and the processor are also still pending.
Rumors indicate that the model will launch as the "Huawei MateBook Fold Ultimate Design," which is hardly surprising given the "Ultimate Design" logo on the back of the laptop. At least one version of the notebook is said to be equipped with 32 GB of RAM and a 2 TB SSD, and will be offered in "Forged Shadow Black." Further details on features, pricing, and availability are likely to be released at the launch event on Monday, May 19th.
