GPD Win Mini: Launch date confirmed for new gaming handheld as company adds 64 GB of RAM and 2 TB SSD option
GPD has now confirmed the Indiegogo launch date for the Win Mini, roughly two weeks after the company outlined pricing for the compact gaming handheld. Initially, GPD stated that the Win Mini would cost between US$699 and US$999 for the following three configurations:
- AMD Ryzen 5 7640U/16 GB RAM/512 GB SSD/US$699
- AMD Ryzen 7 7840U/32 GB RAM/512 GB SSD/US$869
- AMD Ryzen 7 7840U/32 GB RAM/2 TB SSD/US$999
However, the company has since added a fourth configuration that expands the Win Mini to 64 GB of RAM while retaining a 2 TB SSD. At launch, GPD will offer this new top configuration for US$1,149, a 14% discount on its approximate US$1,349 retail price. Supposedly, GPD has added this fourth configuration due to fan requests, which is handy because the Win Mini does not support upgradeable RAM.
Conversely, GPD has equipped the Win Mini with an M.2 2230 for its 512 GB, 1 TB or 2 TB PCIe 4.0 storage options. To recap, the Win Mini also has a 7-inch IPS display (1080p/120 Hz), a 44.24 Wh battery and a backlit keyboard within a mere 520 g and 168 x 109 x 26 mm housing. GPD will open its Win Mini Indiegogo campaign at 02:00 UTC on September 5, the same day that the larger AYANEO KUN will become available on the same website.
