Large colour e-ink panels are gradually becoming more affordable. Fraimic strives to capitalise on falling prices by integrating E Ink Spectra 6 panels into its picture frames, which come in sizes ranging from 13.3 to 31.5 inches.
Since e-ink only consumes power when switching images, these frames are designed to last around four to five years on a single charge. The built-in battery recharges via USB-C. Images can be updated through a web interface directly accessible over a local Wi-Fi network, eliminating the need for servers, subscriptions or an Internet connection. Built-in microphones also allow users to switch pictures or generate new AI images using voice commands.
Fraimic says the e-ink displays can be transferred to other frames with minimal modifications to better complement the user’s interior design style. The company also plans to add several interesting features through a post-launch firmware update, including “Movie Mode” and “Music Mode”. The former automatically displays the poster for the film being watched, whilst the latter loads and shows album covers from Spotify.
Price and availability
Fraimic is running a Kickstarter campaign until 22 October, with shipping expected to begin in May 2026. Prices for the smaller 13.3-inch panel start at $299, whereas the larger 31.5-inch model costs $729. These prices do not include shipping, taxes or duties. As this is the team’s first-ever Kickstarter project, there may be an increased risk of delays, cancellations, or quality-related issues.
