With the Eve Spectrum monitor apparently set for release next quarter, Eve Distribution is continuing to prototype its next Surface alternative with fans. Now the company, formerly known as Eve-Tech, has offered glimpses of several design proposals for its next 2-in-1.

Eve Distribution is continuing to prototype its next 2-in-1, the tentatively titled Eve V (2020) or Project V. As we reported earlier this year, the company has settled on a device for its upcoming device and has recently offered fans a say on the keyboard cover that they would like included. Now, the company has offered the opportunity to fans to vote on other aspects of the Eve V (2020).

Before we go any further we should stress that Eve Distribution, formerly known as Eve-Tech, has been criticised extensively for how it handled the distribution of the first Eve V, or lack thereof in many cases. Nonetheless, many people have received their Eve V orders, and Eve Distribution expects to deliver its Spectrum display in Q4 2020.

Returning to how the Eve V (2020) could shape up, Eve Distribution is offering fans two choices for the design of the device. According to Eve Distribution, it has the option of releasing an Eve V (2020) with USB Type-A and USB Type-C ports, or one with only USB Type-C ports. The latter would allow the device to have thinner bezels, but it would limit connectivity somewhat. On the other hand, including a USB Type-A port would increase screen bezels by up to 25%.

Additionally, Eve Distribution has proposed to re-use the keyboard layout from the first Eve V. This off-the-shelf layout would be cheaper according to the company, but a custom layout would allow it to add "extra keys and tweaks". If Eve Distribution opted for the latter, then the final product would cost "up to US$40 more".

If you are interested in purchasing an Eve V (2020) when Eve Distribution launches it, then you can vote on the proposals via the link below.
