EEC confirms new Huawei GT 2 Pro and Honor Watch GS Pro smartwatches ahead of possible September announcement
Huawei has just announced the Talkband B6, but it is planning to release at least two other smartwatches. Initially reported to a so-called tipster on Weibo and picked up by the likes of Huawei Central, two new smartwatches have been certified by the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). EEC listings do not necessarily guarantee the release of a device, but they have foreshadowed the announcement of some products like the latest iPad Pros.
According to the listings, Huawei has a Watch GT 2 Pro in the works, along with an Honor Watch GS Pro. Huawei and Honor are inextricably linked, so the Watch GT 2 Pro and Watch GS Pro may well be the same smartwatch sold under two names. However, that may not be the case here. Based on the names alone, it would seem that the Watch GT 2 Pro is an iterative upgrade from the Watch GT 2 that Huawei released last year. The MagicWatch 2 is Honor's equivalent to the Watch GT 2, so one would expect the MagicWatch 3 to be the Honor version of the Watch GT 2 Pro.
Hence, the Watch GS Pro could be a new series for Honor, which would tally with the statement made by the Weibo account on which Huawei Central was relying for its claims. If that is the case, then we may see a Huawei equivalent to the Watch GS Pro too. According to @RODENT950, the Watch GT 2 Pro and Watch GS Pro will arrive before the Mate Watch, which Huawei is apparently launching alongside the Mate 40 series in October. Huawei announced the Watch GT 2 in September 2019, making a September 2020 launch for the Watch GT 2 Pro and Honor Watch GS Pro likely.
