Diablo 2 Resurrected gameplay footage sheds light on some key gameplay improvements

Diablo 2 Resurrected does not have an official launch date yet, despite being announced at BlizzConline some time ago. However, Blizzard has opened up a technical alpha program for it. It appears that one of the users managed to record some gameplay footage and has uploaded it on their YouTube channel.

While there was nothing inherently wrong with the original Diablo 2's HUD, it seems a bit dated in the current year. Diablo 2 Resurrected reimagines it from a minimalist perspective, cutting down on the obnoxiously large stamina bar. Skill icons are also a lot closer together, with the stat icon occupying the space in between then. The health and mana bar still occupy their position on the left and right corner of the screen, respectively. The storage and inventory UI get a slight redesign too. Even the skill tree has been remade from the ground up.

As far as the actual Diablo 2 Resurrected gameplay is concerned, everything ranging from the floor to skill projectiles gets a fresh coat of paint. Enemies and bosses alike get new character models. We even get to see glimpses of Andariel and Mephisto. The character creation screen seems to be quite close to the original. However, there is no telling just which of these elements will make it to Diablo 2 Resurrected's final version. For a game that had to be developed from scratch, Vicarious Visions has done a pretty stellar job.
