Black Shark 4 Pro kicks Xiaomi Mi 10S off the top spot in DXOMARK smartphone audio chart
The Black Shark 4 Pro gaming smartphone has been rigorously tested by DXOMARK for the quality of its audio playback and recording. The phone scored lower than the Xiaomi Mi 10S in the recording tests, churning out 71 points overall compared to 80 for the Xiaomi device. However, the Black Shark 4 Pro stormed ahead in playback by 83 vs. 81 points, and thanks to the benchmark’s “complex algorithm” for overall score calculation and obvious section weighting, the gaming phone became the new chart topper on 81 points compared to the 80 scored by the Mi 10S.
As pointed out by the site, the Black Shark 4 Pro can boast of having dual loudspeakers that are located at the top and bottom of the smartphone, and it has three noise-canceling-capable microphones as part of its audio equipment. On top of those, gamers who also happen to be audiophiles will be pleased about the presence of a 3.5 mm jack, although DXOMARK focuses more on the audio output via the smartphone’s speakers rather than the quality offered via headphones.
While the Black Shark 4 Pro, which is looking like something of a beast of a smartphone with its powerful Snapdragon 888 SoC and gamer-friendly 144 Hz AMOLED, presented distortion at high volumes during playback and lagged behind the Xiaomi Mi 10S in regard to recording volume due to problematic artifacts, it still won the day with its audio performance. It seems Black Shark hasn’t left a stone unturned during the development of its 4 Pro model, which is scheduled to be launched on March 23.
