On May 20, new gameplay clips from the upcoming Battlefield 6 surfaced online. The footage showcases intense combat, explosive vehicle action and plenty of destruction. While a former Bad Company 2 developer reacted with nostalgia, the community remains skeptical.

There’s still no official release date for Battlefield 6, but leaks from the “Battlefield Labs” test environment keep appearing. On May 20, user goodboy shared three short clips on X, offering a brief glimpse of the upcoming AAA shooter in action. A noteworthy response came from David Goldfarb, former lead designer of Battlefield: Bad Company 2, who reacted with a wave of nostalgia. In a post, he wrote, “Oh the BC2 vibes this is giving me. Having flashbacks to the first time we playtested Arida Harbor.” Here’s a quick look at the leaked footage:

In the first clip, the player drives an armored personnel carrier through a war-torn cityscape. Amid blasts and flying debris, one detail grabs attention: the vehicle casually backs straight through a building extension, putting the game’s destruction system on full display.

The second clip shows the player on foot, taking cover inside a building as a tank approaches. The moment of safety is short-lived – the outer wall crumbles under heavy fire, collapsing into a cloud of dust and debris.

The third video, though noticeably lower in quality, offers a glimpse of a rural mountain landscape. The terrain includes tactically useful elevation changes and several damaged structures, hinting at dynamic combat scenarios in more open environments.

What we know: Confirmed details and leaks

While the official reveal of Battlefield 6 isn’t expected until summer, several key details have already surfaced. Unlike its predecessor, the game will bring back a single-player campaign. According to Creative Director Roman Campos-Oriola, the story is inspired by the Lioness series and the 2024 film Civil War, hinting at a more unconventional narrative setting. Classic multiplayer modes like Conquest and Breakthrough are set to return, and dataminers have uncovered references to a potential battle royale mode. Meanwhile, rumors of a subscription service called Battlefield Pro have sparked concern – especially given EA’s reputation for aggressive monetization.

The community remains skeptical

Despite several promising announcements and leaks, the community remains skeptical, largely due to the lingering disappointment surrounding Battlefield 2042. At launch, the game was plagued by technical issues and lacked essential features like a server browser and a scoreboard – a misstep many players haven't forgotten. Adding to the concern, fears of aggressive monetization have only grown with the rumored introduction of a subscription model. Many fans are hoping for a complete and polished release – not another live-service title filled with microtransactions, battle passes and optional subscriptions. Whether EA and DICE have learned from the Battlefield 2042 debacle and can meet player expectations remains to be seen. According to EA’s Q4 2025 financial report, Battlefield 6 is expected to launch by the end of March 2026 at the latest.
