A rumour says Baldur's Gate 3 will be the next AAA game to launch on Apple devices. It may debut on iPadOS and likely iOS sometime in early 2025.

Earlier this year, Larian confirmed it would be stepping away from the Baldur's Gate franchise, meaning the putative Baldur's Gate 4 will be developed by an entirely different studio. It also said the game would get no DLC or post-launch content. However, a new rumour on X states an iPad port could be in the works.

YouTuber @DameTechChannel has received a tip which stated Baldur's Gate 3 will be released on iOS sometime in early 2025. It shouldn't be a difficult game to port, given its "perfectly playable" on an Arm-based Snapdragon X Elite laptop. Plus, the game isn't particularly demanding hardware-wise and can run fairly well on power-limited platforms such as the Steam Deck and ROG Ally.

Baldur's Gate 3 seems like an ideal AAA game to bring to iOS. It won multiple awards (including 2023's Game of the Year) and is universally revered for its RPG elements. Plus, its predecessors, Baldur's Gate 2 and Baldur's Gate, are also available on iPadOS. However, the game takes up a massive 150 GB of storage space on PC and consoles. If left unchanged, Baldur's Gate 3 could be straight up unplayable on some entry-level iPad/iPhone models.
