Asus unveils 32-inch 8K monitor with 4096 mini LED zones as well as ProArt OLED monitor with Thunderbolt 4
The ProArt Display PA32KCX is aimed specifically at creative professionals, offering both unusual and first-class features. Asus utilizes a 32-inch panel with full 8K resolution, i.e., 7680 x 4320 pixels, which displays 97% of the DCI-P3 color space. Thanks to an integrated colorimeter on a motorized arm, the colors can be calibrated fully automatically without additional hardware.
The monitor supports HDR10 and HLG and is said to achieve a peak brightness of 1200 nits thanks to the mini LED backlight; Asus claims a brightness of 1000 nits across the entire surface - a massive advantage over OLED monitors, which are usually limited to a maximum of 275 nits. The 4096 dimming zones are designed to minimize blooming effects and improve the display of dark content. The screen has two Thunderbolt 4 ports that can charge laptops with up to 96 watts, as well as HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1 and an integrated USB hub.
Asus has also announced the ProArt Display OLED PA32UCDM, the first monitor based on Samsung's latest 32-inch 4K QD OLED panel, which is aimed specifically at creative professionals. To this end, Asus promises precise calibration ex works, 99% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space and a peak brightness of 1000 nits, but as is usual for this panel type, only around 250 nits is likely to be achieved over the entire surface. The monitor also supports HDMI 2.1 and Thunderbolt 4 with 96 watts of power delivery.
Prices and availability
Asus has not yet confirmed any details on the price and availability of the ProArt PA32KCX or the ProArt OLED PA32UCDM. However, the professional monitors are unlikely to be cheap, as the PA32UCXR with its 4K panel and 2304 dimming zones currently costs around $3000.
