Reviews for the Asus UX301LA-DH71T

The Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301LA is the successor to the Zenbook Prime UX31A, which we gave five stars a year and a half ago. The Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301LA is a very good ultrabook with a superb body and high-end components for great all-round performance. The main drawbacks are slightly off-kilter onscreen colours and low-quality speakers. Another five-star laptop from Asus!

The Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 is one of the finest Ultrabooks money can buy. It has a higher resolution display than most and a faster CPU and integrated graphics than all except the 13" Retina MacBook Pro (which technically isn't an Ultrabook and is equally as fast if you buy the similarly configured 2.8GHz i7 model).

Intel HD Graphics 4400:

Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
4558U:
Haswell-based low-voltage dual-core processor clocked at 2.8 GHz with Turbo Boost support up to 3.3 GHz. Offers an integrated Iris Graphics 5100 and a dual-channel DDR3 memory controller.

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.
The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.
