Apple iPhone SE 4 to feature iPhone 14-style chassis, 48-megapixel camera and action button

In a recent report by Macrumors, new information has emerged regarding the upcoming 4th generation iPhone SE.

The report suggests that Apple is set to retire the aging iPhone 8-style chassis, which has persisted for six years, in favor of a sleeker and more contemporary iPhone 14-style body.

Notably, the iPhone SE 4 will not only sport a refreshed design but also boast a significantly larger screen, similar in size and proportion to the iPhone 14. This marks a substantial leap from the current 4.7-inch display on the 3rd gen SE, significantly enhancing the device's overall appeal.

Diverging from the iPhone 14's multiple-lens camera setup, the SE 4 is expected to feature a single-lens configuration, albeit with an impressive 48-megapixel sensor — a notable advancement from the current 12-megapixel sensor found in the SE 3. Additionally, aligning with Apple's push towards adopting USB-C charging in their product lineups, the SE 4 will embrace a USB-C port for charging, providing users with a standardized and versatile charging solution.

Interestingly, the iPhone SE 4 is also expected to introduce an action button — an innovative, user-configurable button situated above the volume controls, originally introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. This button will enable users to assign custom functionalities, replacing the previous single-purpose mute switch and adding a much-appreciated layer of personalization to the device.

As for the release date, according to Macrumors, the iPhone SE 4 is currently anticipated to be released sometime in 2025. This appears to be a long wait, but the upgrades certainly do seem to be worth the patience.
