Apple iPhone 16 Pro telephoto camera leak reveals tetraprism lens and camera module mimicking iPhone 15 Pro Max

We reported back in October that the iPhone 16 Pro could feature a tetraprism telephoto camera as the company is allegedly sourcing molded glass lenses for next year’s flagships. For the latest update, MacRumors claims to have seen internal documentation of the iPhone 16 Pro’s camera module and seemingly confirms that both the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max will have tetraprism telephoto shooters.

For the uninitiated, the tetraprism lens featured on the iPhone 15 Pro Max (Available on Amazon) reflects light four times to achieve the equivalent of a 120 mm focal length. This allows the telephoto shooter to provide a 5x optical zoom. Unfortunately, the iPhone 15 Pro (Available on Amazon) didn’t pack the tetraprism shooter possibly due to limited space. However, since Apple is rumored to increase the size of the iPhone 16 Pro with the phone packing a 6.3-inch display, there should be plenty of space for the tetraprism camera assembly.

Finally, MacRumors also claims that the iPhone 16 Pro’s camera design seems similar to that of the iPhone 15 Pro Max which further indicates ample room for the new telephoto lens.

With the new information in place, the iPhone 16 Pro appears to be a healthy upgrade over the iPhone 15 Pro with a larger screen, a solid-state Action Button, a possibly speedier SoC, and a new telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.

It is important to mention that, since the iPhone 16 Pro is months away, any rumors pertaining to technical information should be taken with a giant grain of salt.
