Apex Launcher 4.0 is a complete mess

Once a very popular Android launcher, Apex Launch has just become an example of how not to do things for the developers of such apps. The latest update reduced the number of settings available, and some of those that have not been eliminated have been completely changed. All in all, Apex Launch is now one of those launchers that any user should avoid.

After being considered a discontinued product for a while, Apex Launcher returned to life in May 2017. Sadly, it looks like the fact that development resumed did not lead to an improved version. The latest update arrived this week and seems to have pushed this Android launcher a long way back in time.

The latest user reviews on the Google Play page of this product should say it all. For example, Jessica Drake — most likely not THAT Jessica Drake — thinks that "The new update completely destroyed all the functionality of the app. My drawer is suddenly a mess. The app icons will not go larger and now they are so small it's unusable. Every adjustment option it gives does basically nothing." Unfortunately for the people behind Apex Launcher, she is not the only long-time user of this app who thinks that the latest update is a failure.

Since the official Apex Launcher website now also advertises an app recommendation partnership platform, it would not be surprising to see the free version of the app flooded with ads while all the interesting features end up as parts of the paid version.

Have you ever used Apex Launcher? Are you still using it, and if the answer is affirmative, what do you think about the latest update? Feel free to share your thoughts with us in the comments section below, as usual.
