For users who want to enjoy movies, football or other events on a large screen outdoors, a particularly bright projector is required. The Anker Nebula X1 is an impressive 4K laser projector that is also suitable for this specific use case, albeit under certain conditions.

A home theater doesn't necessarily have to be indoors. Users can also enjoy movies, sports and other events on a big screen outdoors, whether in a backyard or while camping. In this case, a fitting projector like the Anker Nebula X1 can be a good choice.

We tested the portable laser projector for several weeks and tried it in various settings, from the living room to camping and the backyard. It was immediately clear that the Nebula X1 stands out from most other portable projectors. It weighs over 13 lb and has an official price tag of $2,999 on Amazon, which means that it’s certainly a big purchase.

That being said, the Anker Nebula X1 also offers more than most cheaper projectors in the portable category. For instance, it features high-end specifications, including Anker’s triple-laser technology that produces a 4K image with a brightness of up to 3,500 lumens. This level of brightness is very much needed when using a projector in regular daylight.

During our review, we noticed that even the bright Nebula X1 stands no chance against direct sunlight, which was expected. However, if the screen is placed in a shaded area or the Anker projector is used at dusk while camping or in the backyard, it can provide an impressive home theater experience outdoors.

Either way, the 4K projector performs best indoors in a darkened room. There's no built-in battery, so an outlet or a power station is required. Enthusiasts who are considering the Anker Nebula X1 can look forward to a completely automatic alignment and optimization, as well as an impressive 4K picture quality.

After use, the device can be easily put away and stored in the corresponding carrying case, which is available separately. There’s also a bundle with two external Bluetooth speakers, which basically create a 4.1.2-channel sound system. Our full review of the Anker Nebula X1 provides further details on the sound quality and what else this high-end 4K laser projector has to offer.
