Acer Swift 3: New SF314-512 model introduced with upgraded processors and in three colours for US$849.99
We may have only recently reviewed the Swift 3 SF314-511, but Acer has just announced its successor. Predictably, Acer has called the latest model 'SF314-512', which has launched simultaneously with the Swift 5 SF514-56T. While the new Swift 3 is available in multiple colours, it lacks the redesign that Acer has given this year's Swift 5.
Accordingly, the Swift 3 SF314-511 retains its predecessor's 16:19 aspect ratio. According to Acer's press release, the new Swift 3 will be available with 14-inch FHD and QHD touchscreen displays. Both display options will feature FHD webcams too, which leverage Acer's Temporal Noise Reduction (TNR) technology. Supposedly, TNR will deliver high-quality video feedback even in low-light conditions.
Additionally, the new Swift 3 relies on 12th Gen Intel Core processors and up to 2 TB of storage. Presumably, Acer has equipped the laptop with Alder Lake-U series processors; the company remains silent on RAM support as well. Allegedly, Acer's TwinAir dual-fan cooling system offers a 65.8% improvement over the thermal performance of the single fan in last year's Swift 5. Incidentally, the laptop has HDMI 2.1, USB Type-A and USB Type-C ports.
The Swift 3 SF314-512 will launch in March, starting with Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Acer states that the laptop will start at €1,199 in the Eurozone, CNY 5,499 in China and US$849.99 in North America. The Swift 3 SF314-512 will not be available in China or North America until April and June, respectively.
