6K monitor with extremely thin bezels, Thunderbolt 5 and IPS Black: LG UltraFine 32U990A to launch in September
The LG UltraFine 6K was unveiled at CES in January, but few details about its features were available the time. DisplaySpecifications has now published new images and information about the 32U990A, including a hint that the launch is planned for September; LG may provide more details about the sales launch at IFA.
The monitor stands out not least because of its design, as the 31.5-inch Nano-IPS Black panel has extremely thin bezels, while the rounded stand saves space. The flat frame and silver back are somewhat reminiscent of the Apple Studio Display. LG forgoes a mini-LED backlight, but the monitor still said to reach a respectable SDR brightness of 450 nits and an HDR brightness of 600 nits.
IPS Black typically enables a contrast ratio of 2,000:1. The built-in panel has a refresh rate of 60 Hz and a resolution of 6,144 x 3,456, resulting in a pixel density of 223 PPI. The Adobe RGB color space can be displayed at 99.5% and DCI-P3 at 98%. A special feature is that the monitor features Thunderbolt 5. A total of five USB-C ports are visible on the back, although it is unclear how many of them support Thunderbolt 5.
Alternatively, the monitor can also be connected to a computer via HDMI or DisplayPort. The stand allows the monitor to be tilted and adjusted in height, or even rotated into portrait mode. Stereo speakers are also on board. Further details on the other features, pricing and availability are expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
