MSI has announced two gaming monitors backed by Samsung Display's 500 Hz QD-OLED panel so far. In summary, the MPG 271QR QD-OLED X50 looks set to be receiving a global release at some stage this year. Meanwhile, the MAG 272QP X50 may be with us within the next few days.
Specifically, MSI has now linked to various MAG 272QP X50 retailer listings across the UK and the US. At the time of writing, the new 500 Hz gaming monitor carries a $749.99 MSRP in the US, excluding taxes. By contrast, AWD-IT has priced the MAG 272QP X50 at £416.62 (~$417) in the UK excluding taxes, which increases to £499.95 (~$669) when factoring 20% VAT.
In other words, the MAG 272QP X50 somehow costs 79% more in the US than in the UK. Even so, MSI's new monitor is 25% cheaper than the comparable Samsung Odyssey OLED G60SF (curr. $999.99 on Amazon). Seemingly, MSI will officially release the MAG 272QP X50 on September 5 in the US. For context, the MAG 272QP X50 features the following highlights on top of its 1440p resolution, 500 Hz refresh rate and 0.03 ms GtG response times:
- 300 nits SDR/1,000 nits HDR brightness (3% APL)
- AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support
- Custom heatsink
- DisplayPort 1.4a & HDMI 2.1 ports
- Height, pivot, swivel & tilt adjustable stand
- MSI OLED Care 2.0 technology
- USB Type-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode & 15 W Power Delivery support
