More details about Apple's rumoured 15-inch MacBook have emerged online, courtesy of Ming-Chi Kuo. Despite featuring a more power-hungry panel, the 15-inch model could ship with the same 30 W power brick as the MacBook Air 13.

Ming-Chi Kuo has weighed in on the possibility of Apple releasing a larger MacBook Air, potentially a 15-inch model. As we discussed yesterday, Ross Young of DSCC asserted that Apple plans to release two MacBook Air models in 2023, similar to its release strategy for the MacBook Air brand between 2010 and 2016.

However, Kuo claims that Apple may not market the device as a MacBook Air. Unfortunately, he has not provided any details about its name, although the 'MacBook' name is currently available. Incidentally, Kuo states that Apple hopes to ship the same 30 W power adapter with the 15-inch model as the current MacBook Air. It remains unclear how Apple could do this while using a larger panel; the current MacBook Air peaked at 30.3 W during our stress tests. Presumably, Apple will find various power savings through newer in-house chipsets.

According to the analyst, Apple's suppliers will begin mass-producing the 15-inch model in Q4 2023, but only if 'all goes to plan'. Given that we are 18 months away from mass production, do not rule out delays or changes to this time frame. However, it seems that Kuo is implying that Apple could time the 15-inch model's release for October or November, favoured months for it to announce new MacBook hardware.
