Torras Ostand Q3 Air Pro test conclusion: iPhone case with added value
Based on our impressions, the Torras Ostand Q3 Air Pro case—thanks in particular to its dual airbags—offers better protection for the iPhone 18 Pro (Max) and iPhone 17 Pro (Max) than many other cases. It also comes with a feature that’s extremely practical for everyday use: the Ostand. We fell in love with the integrated, flexibly adjustable metal ring—which serves as a stand and mount—after just a few moments and wouldn’t want to be without it now.
The trade-off is that the Torras Ostand Q3 Air Pro adds over 50 g to the iPhone’s weight and is also quite bulky. Additionally, the multicolored design probably won’t appeal to every owner of an iPhone 18 Pro (Max) or iPhone 17 Pro (Max).

The new iPhone 18 Pro (Max) is here—and with it, a wide variety of compatible accessories. However, since the design hasn’t really changed, cases from the iPhone 17 generation also fit.
However, the Torras Ostand Q3 Air Pro case—Torras’s new flagship protective case for the iPhone 18 Pro (Max) and iPhone 17 Pro (Max)—is brand new. We took a close look at this new release, featuring a dual airbag, in a hands-on test.
Features: Dual airbag protection
We’ve been familiar with Torras’ smartphone cases featuring built-in air cushions at the corners to cushion drops for some time now. In the new Torras Ostand Q3 Air Pro, however, the manufacturer has incorporated two nested airbags—called Air Pro Tech. The orange air pockets in the upper section and at the two lower corners catch the eye right away. Over them is another transparent layer that also encloses air.
The dual-airbag structure is designed to be even more effective against drops. According to the manufacturer, by redistributing air in multiple directions, it absorbs more energy to protect the smartphone—when the device falls onto the corresponding areas of the case. More on this further down in the review. There, we’ll also discuss the stand on the back—a fold-out stand that rotates 360 degrees. This stand also ensures that MagSafe accessories for wireless charging and other functions continue to work even with the case on.
The design of the Torras Ostand Q3 Air Pro is definitely a matter of taste. The orange airbag interior gives it a striking—though not particularly elegant—look, even though the case itself is somewhat color-coordinated with the various iPhone colors. For our test, for example, we had the Glacier color option, which, in our opinion, harmonizes quite well—though not perfectly—with the iPhone 18 Pro in Polar. Overall, however, it’s primarily a rugged case for outdoor use and the like, rather than for design enthusiasts and aesthetes.
Workmanship: High-quality with a microfiber lining
The Torras Ostand Q3 Air Pro makes a high-quality impression in terms of its build. The fit and feel are good. Due to the dual airbag structure in the upper and lower sections, the corners of the case are relatively stiff. This makes it difficult to install on a compatible iPhone.
The brief user manual recommends first inserting the device at the top and then sliding the case over it from the bottom. With a little practice and some effort, it works, although other cases are sometimes easier to install. The sides of the Torras Ostand Q3 Air Pro, on the other hand, are pleasantly soft and flexible.
The bezel surrounds compatible iPhones and is also slightly raised on the top. This ensures the display is protected even if the smartphone is placed face down on a table, for example. The same applies to the camera module on the back, which is notoriously large on the iPhone 17 and 18 Pro generations. This is also surrounded by a raised ring. This ring protrudes about one millimeter beyond the camera lenses, thereby protecting them from damage as well.
Otherwise, the back is completely enclosed by the case, except for the camera module. A microfiber lining is incorporated inside. Not only does this protect the back of the iPhone 17/18 Pro (Max) from scratches, but it also features a compass and the slogan “Record & create for the moment” printed in color as a nice eye-catcher.
Experience: Ostand provides useful added value
For a direct comparison, we also had an Ostand Q3 Air (approx. $60 on Amazon) with a simple air cushion on hand for the test. The dual-layer structure of the Ostand Q3 Air Pro makes it slightly thicker in a direct comparison, so the case is a few millimeters larger.
The Ostand Q3 Air Pro thus adds a noticeable amount of weight. For example, an iPhone 18 Pro with the Torras Ostand Q3 Air Pro weighs around 265 g, since the case, at 53 g, isn’t exactly light. It also adds about 1 cm in length and just under 5 mm in width to an iPhone 18 Pro. As a result, the device with the case is almost the same size as the iPhone 18 Pro Max. This is the downside of features like the airbags and the Ostand.
Based on our brief hands-on test, we can’t definitively say whether the dual airbags ultimately provide better protection and increase the chances of the smartphone remaining undamaged. The case and the iPhone 18 Pro survived a few test drops—admittedly from a relatively low height and directly onto the corners—without any problems. Of course, there’s no guarantee here—especially not for greater heights or unfavorable drop angles.
One advantage of the case is that the device fits comfortably in the hand. With its slightly rubberized areas and a wavy profile in places, the case provides a solid grip. All buttons, including the camera controls, continued to function without any issues during testing. So there are absolutely no limitations caused by the case here, even though the built-in button covers have an easy time of it.
In practice, the Ostand proves to be particularly handy. The fold-out and rotating ring can be used not only as an additional grip on the back of the iPhone but also to prop up the device at a variable angle in either portrait or landscape orientation. This is handy in many situations—for example, at night on a nightstand or during the day while streaming or on video calls. Additionally, the ring is magnetic, so it can be attached to metal surfaces to hang the iPhone, for instance.
