With mass-production of the iPhone SE 2 rumoured to start in the next week or two, a popular YouTube channel has produced a new set of renders show what the device could look like. Combining the design of the iPhone 8 with new colourways, the iPhone SE 2 could be a blend of past and present Apple hardware.

As concept renders go, these are some of the most convincing that we have seen recently. Posted by ConceptsiPhone on YouTube, the video imagines what the iPhone 9. Seemingly based on recent leaks about the device, also referred to as the iPhone SE 2, the video gives an idea of what it could look like in several "Apple" colours.

Seen as the spiritual successor to the iPhone SE on account of its rumoured US$399 price tag, the device will apparently feature an A13 Bionic SoC but within the body of the iPhone 8. ConceptsiPhone supposes that the SE 2 will have a 4.7-inch LCD panel, which is in line with current thinking about the device, although there have been rumours that it will have a 5.4-inch panel instead.

Apparently, Apple has already started producing the SE 2, or iPhone 9 as it may end up being called, ahead of its release next month. While this all remains speculation for the time being, the idea of a new compact iPhone seems a popular one. The iPhone 8 is a fair bit larger than the iPhone SE though, so could the SE 2 still be considered a compact handset?
