Rumour | iPhone SE 2: Mid-March launch date confirmed and fresh rumours about Apple's next budget smartphone featuring a larger display than the iPhone 8
The iPhone SE 2 may prove an integral product for Apple's smartphone portfolio this year, with rumours claiming that the company is expected to sell over 30 million units. While there has been speculation that the device has already entered production, veteran leaker Evan Blass has set his follower's expectations of when Apple will officially unveil it.
Although a fixed date still has not been offered, Blass claims that the SE 2, bracketed as the iPhone 9, will be announced in "Mid-March". This rough date matches with previous rumours, for reference.
Separately, Wccftech is reporting that the SE 2 will have a slightly larger display than the iPhone 8 while reusing its chassis. Citing Fast Company, the website claims that the SE 2 may feature a 4.9-inch panel, along with Touch ID and a physical home button. This would give the device a 0.2-inch larger display than the iPhone 8, while also being 0.5-inches smaller than previous rumours have stated.
Elsewhere, Apple may include up to 128 GB of storage. However, the rumoured pricing of US$399 will likely apply to a 64 GB iPhone SE 2.
