The iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max will receive support for Qi2 25W wireless charging with the upcoming iOS 26 update.
In a press release announcing its latest Qi2 25W charging stands, as spotted by MacRumors, Belkin claims its new accessories can charge iPhone 16 models running iOS 26 from 0% to 50% in around 25 minutes. That is the same charging time Apple advertises for its updated 25W MagSafe charger, suggesting that iOS 26 will unlock faster Qi2.2 charging on the iPhone 16 lineup.
Currently, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro devices only support 25W wireless charging via the new Apple MagSafe charger that debuted in late 2024. Adding official Qi2.2 certification would unlock those faster speeds on third-party accessories as well. Belkin has already released three new 25W Qi2 chargers. Other brands, including Anker and Ugreen, also have Qi2.2-certified power banks and charging stands on the way.
The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) announced the Qi2 25W standard last month, boosting wireless charging speeds up from the maximum 15W of the Qi2 standard. So far, the recently launched Google Pixel 10 Pro XL is the only phone confirmed to support 25W Qi2 charging, with the rest of the Pixel 10 lineup capped at 15W.
With iOS 26, all iPhone 16 models except the entry-level iPhone 16e are expected to support the new 25W Qi2 standard. Apple is likely to release iOS 26 in September alongside the iPhone 17 series, which is rumored to debut with even faster 50W wireless charging.
