ZOTAC once again makes the term "wearable PC" very literal and actionable with the latest in its custom backpack-form factor machine. Accordingly, as the OEM argues, the VR GO 4.0 is ideal for XR enthusiasts, as well as those attracted to the idea of one of the most portable gaming quasi-desktops out there.
The air-cooled VR GO 4.0 is indeed potentially bearable in its intended use-case at 5.2 kilograms (kg) in weight (or 8.5 liters in volume). Its bag-mimicking chassis also improves on its 3.0 forebear with an Intel Core i7-11800H and nearly top-end NVIDIA RTX A4500 graphics.
The 4.0 comes with 16GB of DDR4 RAM out of the box, although this can be extended to 32GB, and 512GB of M.2 SSD space, with a free 2.5-inch 6Gb/s bay on top of that. One finds its ports on the top or side of the device, which include 1 type-C port, an HDMI with 2.1 properties such as up to 8K/60Hz in HDR and VRR, and dual 1.4 DisplayPorts.
Accordingly, ZOTAC touts this solution as superior and more robust than wireless XR at this point in time. The VR GO 4.0 also comes equipped with 2 86.4Wh hot-swappable batteries, a 12V cable, the batteries' charging dock, AC adapter, power cord and a USB recovery stick as standard. However, the OEM has yet to mention pricing for the new on-the-go gaming PC.
