After announcing a cheaper premium plan called YouTube Premium Lite and announcing a price increase of its premium plan, a report has revealed that YouTube has begun testing a new plan that's designed for just two persons.
First reported by Moneycontrol, the Google-owned platform has begun testing a new plan in select markets in Europe and Asia. The new YouTube Premium plan, which is made for just two users, is being tested in France, Hong Kong, India, and Taiwan. The new plan will sit in-between the family membership and single-user membership.
A screenshot provided by the source shows the two-person plan will cost ₹219 per month in India. The family plan costs ₹299 per month while the student plan costs ₹89 per month. The new plan requires both users to be 13 years or older and belong to the same Google family group.
The new plan was also confirmed by a YouTube spokesperson to Moneycontrol via a statement that said “We're experimenting with new ways to provide greater flexibility and value to our YouTube Premium subscribers, including offering a two-person Premium plan option, allowing two people to share a subscription at a reduced cost.”
Like the YouTube Premium Lite Plan which is currently only available in Australia, Germany, Thailand, and the United States, the new two-person family plan might be available in select markets only even after the pilot phase is over.
