Xiaomi has started upgrading the Redmi Note 8T to Android 11 globally, the device's second Android OS update. For some reason, the company brought the device onto Android 11 on MIUI's European branch in July, but waited until now to issue a corresponding update for the global branch.
Android 11 arrives as V12.0.2.0.RCXMIXM, the recovery zip file for which we have included below. Please note that it is a 2.3 GB download; we would recommend waiting for Xiaomi to push the over-the-air (OTA) download to your device instead, unless you wish to wipe it and start afresh.
Typically, Xiaomi issues OS updates in batches, so it could be a few days or weeks before Android 11 is ready to download. Currently, Xiaomi states that V12.0.2.0.RCXMIXM is a Beta Stable update that it is pushing to random users, for reference.
The Redmi Note 8T launched in November 2019 running Android 9.0 Pie, so Android 11 is probably the end of the road for it. Unfortunately, Xiaomi's persistence with MIUI 12 builds suggests that the device will not receive MIUI 12.5 or MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition, either.
