Xiaomi's new device, the X1, is set to share a market space with the recently-released Oppo R11.
The Oppo R11 was released a few weeks ago, with it garnering quite a bit of media attention due to its status as the first device to be powered by the Snapdragon 660. It also helped that the R11 turned out to have a nigh-indistinguishable design from the OnePlus 5 that was released a few weeks later, a phenomenon that isn't as shocking when you realize Oppo and OnePlus are pretty much two sides of the same coin.
While the R11 is priced for the upper mid-range market segment, the new X1 is expected to do what Xiaomi phones are best known for—providing incredible specifications at sub-market prices. In fact, the X1 is expected to retail for about $295, which is a whole tier below the $450 price tag on the R11.
Although the X1 is cheaper, there's not much between the two devices. It will sport a 5.5" FHD display, metal body, Snapdragon 660, and dual rear cameras. It will also ship with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
$295 for a Snapdragon 660 device that doesn't appear to disappoint in any other aspect is an incredible deal. For context, this device could have passed for a 2016 flagship, easily. It's looking like a must-buy.
