Xiaomi reveals first global phones eligible for initial HyperOS 4 update

Xiaomi has announced the HyperOS 4 beta program for global users. To look back, the rollout first began in China, in mid-August 2026, and in the first batch, there were a total of eight phones.

As for the global beta program, a total of seven phones have been listed in the first batch, and they are:

• Xiaomi 17
• Xiaomi 17 Ultra
• Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi (16/512GB curr. $1,305.04 on TradingShenzhen)
• Xiaomi 17T
• Xiaomi 17T Pro
• Xiaomi 15 Ultra
• Xiaomi 15

Among these seven, the first three are already eligible to receive the Android 17 beta update, while the other four will receive HyperOS 4 test firmware on September 17, 2026. It's worth noting that this is just the first batch of devices eligible for the global program, and Xiaomi is expected to expand the list soon.

For those who missed our launch coverage, Xiaomi has promised a handful of improvements with HyperOS 4. Aside from the brand-new "Soft Light Glass" visual design, the update promises advanced home screen customization, faster app loading speeds, and enhanced AI-powered features.

Beyond the big things, the HDR processing algorithm has seen an upgrade, with Xiaomi promising faster operation and a more responsive camera app. The company has also highlighted improvements in video playback and a better overall experience while using the device.

Global users with the eligible devices can enroll in the program by registering through the Xiaomi Community app. It's worth noting that Xiaomi has stated that it's not possible to roll back to the previous version after installing the HyperOS 4 beta via an OTA update. A clean ROM flash through the phone's bootloader may be required.
