Xiaomi releases new compact Redmi tablet globally with low starting price and optional 4G connectivity
Xiaomi has now released a new compact tablet across Europe and the UK. As expected, the device has arrived as the Redmi Pad SE 8.7. However, the Redmi Pad SE 8.7 is actually a re-branded Redmi Pad SE 4G that debuted in India at the end of last month with a 5G version of the Redmi Pad Pro (curr. $279.50 on Amazon).
With that being said, Xiaomi offers the tablet in cellular and non-cellular variants outside India. Consequently, the name 'Redmi Pad SE 4G' would be inappropriate for its global release. At any rate, the Redmi Pad SE 8.7 relies upon a MediaTek Helio G85 chipset and a 6,650 mAh battery that supports 18 W wired charging.

The Redmi SE 8.7 is available to order now from £119 in the UK and €149.90 in the Eurozone with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. By contrast, 4G variants retail for £30/€30 more than their non-cellular counterparts. Please note that Xiaomi will bundle a first-party cover with all orders until September 20.
