Xiaomi has certified two new smartphones with the EEC, days after comparable models appeared at Chinese regulatory bodies. Only one is expected to be a flagship smartphone in the true sense of the word, with the other utilising the Snapdragon 870 SoC, instead.

Last month, Digital Chat Station revealed two model numbers for Xiaomi's next 'true flagships', 2201122C and 2203121C. Suspected to be members of the Xiaomi 12 series, Digital Chat Station claimed that the pair feature SM8450 SoCs, the rumoured part number for the Snapdragon 898.

Now, one of these devices has made its way to the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) as the 2201122G. As fans of Xiaomi smartphones would know, the company uses the 'C' suffix to denote Chinese versions of its devices and 'G' for ones that it plans to sell globally. Typically, companies like Xiaomi register devices with the EEC shortly before announcing them, although that is not always the case.

In this case, the appearance of the 2201122C and 2201122G suggests that Xiaomi intends to bring the device to market soon. The EEC also refers to 2201123G, which Xiaomi has certified as 2201123C in China too. According to Digital Chat Station, the 2201123C contains a Snapdragon 870 or equivalent, meaning that this device could be an entry-level model, possibly the Xiaomi 12.

If that is the case, we suspect that 2201122G is the Xiaomi 12 Pro or the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. For some reason, @yabhishekhd and @xiaomiui believe that the 2201122G is the Xiaomi 12 Pro, albeit without providing any evidence for this assertion. Nonetheless, the Xiaomi 12 series is expected to arrive before the end of the year in China and in early 2022 for the rest of the world.
