While Xiaomi is busy behind the scenes readying its next flagship smartphones, it has publicly presented a new advanced cooling solution. Arguably, flagships like the Mi 11 Ultra already need better cooling methods, mostly because of how hot the Snapdragon 888 runs compared to the Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 865 Plus.
Loop LiquidCool Technology will not be available this year, the first smartphones should be arriving with it in the second half of 2022. In a blog post and accompanying YouTube video, Xiaomi explains that Loop LiquidCool Technology reduces peak temperatures in the MIX 4 by approximately 10%. The MIX 4 relies on the Snapdragon 888, for reference.
In essence, Loop LiquidCool Technology is a vapour chamber, but one that Xiaomi has optimised with a 'Tesla valve structure'. Xiaomi explains that Loop LiquidCool Technology contains an evaporator, a condenser, a refill chamber, along with gas and liquid pipes to distribute heat. Supposedly, using separate channels for gases and liquids reduces air resistance by 30% and heat transfer capacity by up to 100%.
Xiaomi has not confirmed which devices will utilise Loop LiquidCool Technology. However, the Xiaomi 12 series is expected to arrive early next year, so we can discount the Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro or Xiaomi 12 Ultra. A future MIX or T series device could be good candidates though, seeing as these typically arrive during the summer and autumn.
