After a leak in mid-December already revealed the key details of the Poco M8 series, Xiaomi has now officially confirmed that the midrange smartphones will be unveiled on Thursday, January 8. Xiaomi is already showing off the successor to the Poco M7 in a teaser image and confirms that the smartphone is 0.29 inches thick.
The Poco M8 series features an unusual design with a three-tone back panel, a curved display and a large square camera module. According to earlier rumors, the Poco M8 Pro is a slightly more affordable variant of the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus. Xiaomi might have opted for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, paired with 8GB to 12GB RAM and 256GB to 512GB of mass storage.
The battery apparently has a capacity of 6,500mAh and supports charging via USB-C at up to 100 watts. Meanwhile, the 6.83-inch display is based on an AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of 120Hz. Compared to the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus, the telephoto camera is missing. Instead, the Poco M8 Pro is expected to feature a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 32MP selfie camera.
The Poco M8 Pro is reportedly IP68-certified and therefore water-resistant, unlike the base model. According to rumors, the more affordable Poco M8 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 and offers at least 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage. The battery is a bit smaller at 5,520mAh and supports charging with up to 45 watts.
